ITINERARY

DAY 1

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Morning: Arrive at Kathmandu Airport. Meet our team and transfer to your hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu’s vibrant tourist district. Afternoon: Settle in and relax, or explore nearby shops and cafes. Evening: Welcome dinner and orientation on what lies ahead.

DAY 2

Day 2: Briefing and Preparation

Morning: Team briefing to introduce you to Tsum Valley’s culture, history, and the responsibilities of a mountain shepherd. Afternoon: Gear check and supply gathering with your guide. Ensure you have everything needed for the trek and village life. Evening: Free time to prepare, pack, and explore more of Kathmandu.

DAY 3

Day 3: Exploring Kathmandu

Morning: Guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. Afternoon: Final preparations and time to connect with your fellow adventurers. Evening: Dinner with the group to discuss the journey ahead.

DAY 4

Day 4: Drive to Jagat (1,370 m)

Morning: Early departure from Kathmandu, driving through scenic landscapes, small villages, and riversides to reach Jagat. Afternoon: Arrive in Jagat, the trek starting point. Brief orientation on the local community and what to expect. Evening: Settle into the lodge for a restful night.

DAY 5

Day 5: Trek to Lokpa (2,240 m)

Morning: Start your trek, hiking through beautiful landscapes, terraced fields, and dense forests. Afternoon: Arrive in Lokpa, where you’ll spend the night. Enjoy the stunning mountain views and get to know your surroundings. Evening: Relax with fellow travelers and prepare for the next leg of your journey

DAY 6

Day 6: Trek to Tsum Valley

Morning: Continue the trek, entering the sacred Tsum Valley. Learn about the region's unique Buddhist culture and unspoiled natural beauty. Afternoon: Reach your destination in the valley and settle into a local homestay. Evening: Dinner with locals, immersing yourself in their way of life.

DAY 7

Day 7: Explore Tsum Valley and Mission Briefing

Morning: Take a guided tour of nearby monasteries and temples, meeting villagers along the way. Afternoon: Orientation on shepherding duties and responsibilities for the days ahead. Evening: Bond with your team and discuss the work with the community.

DAY 8

Day 8: Begin Shepherding with Local Guide and Sergeant

Morning: Meet your sergeant-in-charge and begin hands-on shepherding tasks. Learn to handle and gather livestock. Afternoon: Training and shadowing a local herder to get comfortable with the routine. Evening: Reflect on the day’s experiences and enjoy an authentic Nepali meal.

DAY 9

Day 9: Shepherding Duties Begin

All day: Take charge of the livestock, moving with the herds through mountain trails, grazing areas, and back to the village. Evening: Exchange stories with locals and enjoy a traditional dinner.

DAY 10

Day 10-13: Embrace the Mountain Life

Daily Routine: Each day, take on full shepherding duties: Graze the animals in different parts of the valley. Maintain watch over the flock, ensuring their safety. Participate in any challenges that arise (e.g., dealing with wildlife). Assist with other village tasks and deepen your connection with the people. Evenings: Relax, share stories, and learn about mountain life from villagers.

DAY 11

Day 14: Return to Tsum - Guard the Fields

Morning: Bring the herd back to the village. Afternoon: Help villagers by keeping a lookout for monkeys that have been harassing farmers. Enjoy a peaceful day in the sun with a book when things are calm. Evening: Farewell dinner with local villagers, sharing gratitude and stories.

Day 15: Participate in Community Activities

All day: Join in additional village activities, helping with daily tasks, learning traditional skills, or assisting in local farming. Evening: Share a final evening meal with the community before departing.

Day 16: Trek Back to Base Camp

Day 17: Return to the Road
